Diamonds are forever"........
The diamond formation has transformed us as an attacking threat. Coupled with the work rate of the front two and you can see a system being employed that suits the personnel currently available to the manager.

With everyone fit picking four is a difficult choice for BFS. But without the pro Noble brigade getting out of their prams I thought Song on Sunday was absolutely brilliant. His ability to break up play but also to link the play going forward leads me to believe he is the guy who should be playing that role at the bottom of the diamond.

I would play Song Kouyate Amalfitano and Downing at the top of the diamond behind the front two.

Noble Nolan Jarvis great to bring on and have up your sleeve.

Stick with the diamond but it's downing up top, Kouyate, Song, Noble and a.n.other have to fight it out. Surely this is will make each player better?

I prefer a 4-1-4-1 formation, however see no reason why noble, song, kouyate and downing cant all play.

I still regard it as important to tie Noble to a new contract. Even if we were to permanently sign Song, Noble is an ample replacement should Song be injured/lose form.

Who was it, prior to the Hull game, that suggested we should play the diamond?

Can't remember, but it was on the Team v Hull thread.
Devilishly good looking chap, can't remember his name.

Enjoy it while we have him.

FWIW I reckon he will stay... saw quotes from him saying he joined 'cos of the exciting move to OS etc...

I'm sure he is enjoying playing regularly and any team a step up from us could not guarantee that he would play 100%.

The better we do and higher we finish the more likely he is to stay (and Barcelona won't want to sell to a CL rival).

The thing that bothers me is that Song could fuck off at the end of the season.
